Although he began as the singer of the legendary, pioneering hardcore band Bad Brains, HR has since transitioned into roots reggae music. I was asked to produce an 11x17 poster and drew inspiration from the colors and aesthetic of his current merchandise as well as 1960’s reggae album covers. I wanted to convey the music HR was currently producing, while referencing his early musical years using the main photograph of HR by the great Glen E Friedman.
