Marking a departure from their more traditional Americana sound, Nick Dittmeier & The Sawdusters wanted the album art to reflect this change with their new album Heavy Denim. A hooded, skeleton figure would be prominent in the music videos they were producing as well as dark imagery in general. I wanted to juxtapose more playful type and color against the main image depicting a post apocalyptic world, lorded over by dark forces. The initial focus was solely the record layout, but the band quickly asked to produce a CD layout and a patch design for merchandise.
