I was excited to be asked to make an 11x17 poster for legendary bassist Mike Watt’s new project MSSV for their first time through Indianapolis. The band is framed around heavy rhythms from Watt and drummer Stephen Hodges, with Mike Baggetta’s swirling guitar work floating on top. The band is rooted in jazz music, but explores all sorts of musical realms throughout their releases. Because of their ever changing sound, I pulled references and colors from 1960’s jazz albums as well as drawing from 1960’s psychedelic imagery.
